Question 1

Can I hold the animals before I buy one?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Ask a staff member and we will bring the animal out for you to meet. Most of our animals are hand-raised, so they step up and settle down instead of hiding in a corner.

Question 2

What is your return policy on live animals?

Accepted Answer

Live animals carry a 14-day return policy. Bring the animal back with your receipt and our staff will go through the health check with you.

Question 3

Do you sell animals online or ship them?

Accepted Answer

No. Every animal is picked up in the store, so you can see its health and temperament in person before it goes home with you.

Question 4

Do you take in rescues or surrendered pets?

Accepted Answer

We help place rescue animals and post them on our YouTube channel when they arrive. Call the shop at 313-885-1560 before bringing an animal in, so we can tell you whether we have room.

Question 5

What is Lou's-U?

Accepted Answer

Lou's-U is our volunteer program. Participants work alongside staff, learn how the animals are fed and housed, and get hands-on time with species they would never meet otherwise.

Question 6

Can I bring my own pet into the store?

Accepted Answer

Leave the family pet at home. A store full of small animals and birds is stressful for a visiting dog or cat, and our residents get first priority on safety.
